1311. NHAI, Vertis Trust launch scholarship scheme for toll plaza employees’ children
- On August,27, 2025 It was reported that, In July 2025 at New Delhi, NHAI in partnership with Vertis Infrastructure Trust launched Project Aarohan, a scholarship programme for children of toll plaza employees, implemented by Bharat Cares of SMEC Trust.
- With a budget of ₹1 crore, it will cover 500 students (Class 11–Graduation) with ₹12,000 scholarships and 50 postgraduate students with ₹50,000, alongside mentorship, skill workshops, and career guidance, through an online application and transparent selection.
- The scheme reflects NHAI’s commitment to social responsibility, supporting families that keep highways running. It aims to nurture talent, promote long-term educational empowerment, and create pathways of self-reliance, thereby contributing to Atmanirbhar Bharat and inclusive growth.
1312. Burhanpur Becomes First Indian District to Deliver Tap Water to Every Rural Home
- Amid the pandemic, when local authorities began laying the groundwork for providing potable tap water connection to every rural household in 2020, it seemed like a long-drawn task. Over 254 villages spread across the district, whose 60% of the total area is covered by forests, accessibility was a challenge that required careful manoeuvring.
- Despite Madhya Pradesh being one of the 13 districts identified by the Jal Shakti ministry, where 95% of the residual work is yet to be completed, Burhanpur has managed to complete the project in time.
- Burhanpur is the only one which has been able to get it certified after people from all 254 villages passed a resolution in the Gram Sabha and certified that they have access to safe drinking water through tap.
1313. Centre clears ₹282-crore upgrade for NH-48 in Gurugram–Jaipur stretch
- On 26 August,2025 Union Minister of State for Road, Transport and Highways & Corporate Affairs laid the foundation stone for four flyovers and nine foot overbridges on NH-48 between Gurgaon–Kotputli–Jaipur, worth ₹282 crore.
- The flyovers aim to ease congestion and reduce accidents, while foot overbridges with ramps, stairways, and lighting improve pedestrian safety. These are part of India’s rapid highway expansion, growing from 91,000 km in 2014 to over 1.46 lakh km in 2024.
- Minister said "India now builds roads at a record pace of 34 km/day. The projects will improve mobility in Gurugram, Rewari, and nearby areas, boosting connectivity and economic growth. In Delhi-NCR alone, ₹80,545 crore projects covering 1,679 km have been completed, with more underway."

1314. SAIL supplies 8,000 tonnes of critical steel for Indian Navy frigates
- On August 26, 2025, SAIL supplied around 8,000 tonnes of critical-grade steel for the Indian Navy’s new frontline stealth frigates, INS Udaygiri and INS Himgiri, commissioned by Defence Minister at Visakhapatnam.
- The steel enables construction of advanced multi-mission stealth frigates, reduces dependence on imported special steel, and strengthens India’s defense manufacturing under ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’.
- Project 17A frigates commissioned simultaneously from two shipyards; SAIL’s supply comes from Bokaro, Bhilai, and Rourkela; supports previous vessels like INS Vikrant, INS Nilgiri, INS Ajay, and more, highlighting ongoing naval-industry collaboration.
1315. Modi in Gujarat: PM unveils ₹5,400-crore infra push, flags off Maruti Suzuki’s EV plant
- On August 26,2026 PM inaugurated ₹5,400 crore infrastructure projects and EV initiatives in Ahmedabad and Gujarat, covering power, rail, roads, and electric mobility.
- Projects modernize power distribution, improve safety, reduce losses, enhance rail and road connectivity, and strengthen industrial linkages; EV initiatives support global exports and domestic battery production.
- Rail projects: Mahesana–Palanpur (65 km), Kalol–Kadi–Katosan (37 km), Bechraji–Ranuj (40 km); EV exports to 100+ countries; hybrid battery electrodes ensure 80% domestic value addition, supporting self-reliance and clean energy transition.
1316. New infra projects, passenger train to give fresh impetus to Gujarat's development: Western Railways
- On August 25 2025, PM inaugurated three rail projects and a passenger train service in Gujarat to strengthen regional connectivity and socio-economic growth.
- Projects reduce travel time, ease passenger traffic, improve goods movement, and boost local industries and employment in Banaskantha, Mahesana, and Gandhinagar districts.
- Total cost ₹1,400 crore; Mahesana-Palanpur doubling (65 km), Kalol-Katosan gauge conversion (37 km), Bechraji-Ranuj line (40 km); support National Logistics Policy and Gati Shakti Master Plan for multimodal connectivity.
1317. PM Modi launches ₹5,400-crore development projects in Gujarat
- On August 25, 2025 in Gujarat, Prime Minister dedicated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹5,400 crore across railways, roads, power, housing, and urban infrastructure, including doubling, gauge conversion, and new freight and passenger railway services.
- The projects aim to improve passenger convenience, enhance freight movement, reduce congestion, boost industrial growth, strengthen regional trade, modernise electricity distribution, provide urban housing, and streamline governance. They will be implemented through schemes like PMAY (Urban) and UGVCL’s power modernisation.
- Key initiatives include six-lane underpasses, railway overbridges, the Sardar Patel Ring Road widening, slum rehabilitation, new administrative buildings, and a Data Storage Centre. 1318. IREDA inks MoU with MNRE, sets ₹8,200 crore revenue target for FY26
- On 25 August,2025 in New Delhi, IREDA signed a performance-based MoU with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), targeting ₹8,200 crore revenue from operations for FY 2025-26, along with key performance parameters including ROE, ROCE, and EBITDA.
- The MoU aims to sustain IREDA’s strong performance in financing renewable energy projects. It ensures accountability through metrics like NPA ratio and asset turnover, promoting operational efficiency and continuing its ‘Excellent’ MoU rating achieved consecutively since FY 2020-21.
- IREDA exceeded its FY25 revenue target, achieving ₹6,743.32 crore against ₹5,957 crore. Recognized as a top performer in the NBFC and power sector, it is a mini-ratna CPSE supporting renewable energy financing across India, strengthening the country’s clean energy initiatives.
1319. PM Modi meets Fijian PM Sitiveni Rabuka in Delhi: Leaders hold delegation-level talks; cooperation announced in health, defence and climate
- Prime Minister of India On August 25, 2025 met his Fijian counterpart Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka at Hyderabad House and held delegation-level talks focused on expanding the India-Fiji partnership.
- The two leaders announced new initiatives in healthcare, defence, climate cooperation and cultural ties during Rabuka’s first official visit to India in his current capacity.
- Speaking at a joint press briefing, PM said India and Fiji are working together to address climate challenges. “Climate change is a critical threat for Fiji. In this context, we are working together on renewable energy, especially solar energy.

1320. Govt Commits ₹211 Cr to Boost SpaceTech Startups Under FFS Scheme
- On August 25, 2025 It was reported that, The Union Government has announced an investment support of ₹211 crore (around $25 million) under the Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS) scheme, giving a major boost to India’s rapidly growing space-tech sector.
- Union Minister said the investment will empower homegrown innovators with critical resources and help position India as a rising global space power. “Guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the government is committed to driving innovation, youth-led entrepreneurship, and transformative use of space technology,”
- India’s space-tech sector is witnessing unprecedented momentum, with over 350 startups now active in the field. The country’s space budget has also nearly tripled in the past decade, from ₹5,615 crore in FY14 to ₹13,416 crore in FY26.
